PALLADIUM. With high gold and platinum prices, palladium is now being considered as a viable alternative for jewellery.

PALLADIUM.  Previously better known as an industrial metal, palladium is growing in popularity in China and the USA.

Currently used in the manufacture of white gold in Europe, the purity of palladium means that allergic reactions can be avoided.

Because palladium is a naturally occuring white metal it does not require to be plated with rhodium to give it a white finish as white gold generally is.

Palladium is one of the platinum group metals which share a high level of resistance to corrosion and oxidation making them both strong and durable.

It is a lighter and lower cost alternative to platinum, whilst giving much the same appearance and durabillity.

Unfortunately palladium jewellery is not yet widely available in the UK. One possible reason for this is that palladium cannot currently be hallmarked by the Assay Offices.

However if the demand for palladium jewellery increases, and assay offices recognise palladium as a precious metal and agree to its hallmarking there will be an increase in availabillity.

When this happens you can be sure that pebbles will be one of the first retailers to stock palladium jewellery.
