Alternative materials used in wedding rings

The soaring price of precious metals has led to an inevitable increase in the cost of wedding rings and other jewellery, particulary in Platinium and Gold.

This has lead to the rise in popularity of alternative materials such as palladium (a member of the platinum family), titanium and zirconium in wedding rings and other jewellery.  Mainly due to the price of these metals being more affordable and of course hard wearing and lightweight.

Freedom of choice in mens wedding rings

Where traditionally a mans wedding ring would be a plain gold or platinum band, there is now much more choice available for him and not just plain bands.  Designs, matt or polished finishes, with or without diamonds or be more individual with colours in titanium, zirconium and palladium. The affordabillity of these rings has the added bonus of leaving more of the budget available for the Bride to select her ring!

Traditional or alternative wedding ring?

If a traditional wedding ring is a court ring  in either gold or platinum then would an alternative be a court ring made in palladium, zirconium, or titanium?  However, maybe that is not alternative enough and shape has also to be considered so square shaped rings, rings with notched edges, bespoke shapes, and irregular profiles.

Then there is colour, again a traditional ring would be white or yellow, so colour combinations of yellow and white gold, black and white, colours from brown to pink, blacks and greys  are all available and again could be considered alterantive wedding rings.
