Heather Sawers in Edinburgh
We are very excited that during the Edinburgh festival we are showcasing local designer Heather Sawers unusual and contemporary collection in our Edinburgh shop.
Recently graduated from Gray's School of Art with an honours degree in three dimesional design this is the first time Heathers designs have been exhibited.
Designs in silks and precious metals
Heather, from Linlithgow, has captured fleeting moments of ephemeral smoke and has adapted them into physical mater ials. "Initially I was concerned with light projection onto different parts of the body" explains Heather, "however I then became interested in the physical slides encasing the image. One of the main focuses of my work is to comfortably fit the wearer, wrapping closely around parts of the body and allowing itself to be slightly manipulated to fit different shapes and sizes."
Heather's designs convey a sense of unpredictability and the mixture of precious metals and screen printed silk keep them strong yet delicate.
